I needed a changing table/dresser for Emmett's room. I really liked this dresser from Pottery Barn, but because I'm on a budget and because I wanted something longer I was determined to find just that. Something longer and a whole lot cheaper. The only downfall to that was that I had to visit the Salvation Army probably 10-15 times to find it and Greg spent some serious hours on this baby. Well worth it in my opinion. I ended up getting this solid wood dresser for $40 and probably put another $40 into hardware, paint, primer and sandpaper and then just tried to copy Pottery Barns idea. I'm so happy with the way it turned out.

This was how the door originally looked. We took out the grain stems by filling it in with some wood filler, some serious sanding and covered it with paint and lacquer.

My first purchase for Emmett's room was this rocker. It was also a Salvation army purchase for $40. I didn't love it at first, but now it's perfect. Perfect color. Perfect size. And I like that I only paid $40, so I don't care what happens to it. We also had only one crib, but I needed another one, so I bought this at a consignment store here in town for $25. Sometimes having to be on a budget and looking for a deal ain't bad!

WOW! Looks amazing. I really miss garage sales and second hand stores. The second hand stores here still charge alot for the items. Island living demands reuse!

That looks GREAT Shalet! Greg is a good sport. I just made Andy spend the last 2 hours rearranging the boys' room...including stacking the beds back up...and I'm dying to refinish some gnarly old furniture but I might be pushing my luck there. But I love yours...well done.
