A Few of My Favorite Things

We put one of these Visco Memory Foam Toppers on our boys beds. They are so nice. Our kids aren't great sleepers so we spend a few hours a night on there sometimes. Lucas didn't sleep through the night on a continuous basis until we put him in a twin bed with this topper.

I used to always mop on my hands and knees. I still do that every once in a while but for the most part I use the Performer Dust Mop from Target. I also have a phobia with hair so I've always used a vacuum hose to clean my floors in lou of a broom, but now I also use the mop for sweeping and then just clean it with my vacuum hose. Reviews aren't great, but it sure beats the heck out of a broom for me any day.

I really like Bernard Jensen's Chewable Vitamin C. My mom swears by them in helping keep kids from getting sick. My kids get one a day unless they start to get a runny nose or cough and then they take a good 4. I'm giving them a year to see if they help my kids as it seems my kids are always sick.

I had a rough go there for a while after Emmett was born. The sun don't shine a lot here so I know that didn't help. I've been told that there are some significant advantages of taking Vitamin D3. This along with a few other things have made the world of difference in my mental health.

I'll preface this by quoting my husband "what in the heck is that and why is it going on our wall? If you can hang that there, then I can, by all means, hang a deer someplace in here!"
Ha. Probably not on my life! Sooooo you may not like it either and think it's lame, but I think it's totally art, it's simply fabulous and it is absolutely perfect for this spot in the house!
I got the idea from the House of Smiths rug. But my floor is not a place for any type of rug as it seems there's always something being spilled or broken. So for this I used: a 24x36 (the bigger the better for me lately) stretched canvas, burlap, had Greg make a chevron die cut for me (not without a whole lot of grumbling), and then paint. Once finished I sanded the whole thing as well to give it a worn look.

Some of what occupies our time:
I'm working on redoing this:

and pretty worried whether or not it'll turn out.

I tried to make this spring decor from House of Smiths, but without a silhouette machine my bird was so not cute.

I thought these easter baskets were a great idea, but the ones I found were really small so I bought these at target instead:

I'm working on some Chevron Art (I think that's the correct terminology) which will be something like this rug from House of Smiths, but will not be on the floor.

And since September my boys have been working on memorizing THE LIVING CHRIST, the Articles of Faith, and a handful of scriptures every morning on our way to school. Daxton and Lucas are 3 paragraphs shy of completing The Living Christ.

The last two weeks we have:
Watched General Conference
Planted some tomato plants
Had the nasty Windows Repair virus that ended in wiping our computer
Bought a trampoline
Lucas got kissed by a girl (a very cute little girl and didn't mind it one bit)
The boys and friends caught at least 70 bluegill
We battered and fried the bluegill and loved every last bit of it
Took about 1000 pictures
and
Greg drew a turkey tag

I guess it's inevitable: my baby is going to just keep getting bigger. But as I've said before with all my babies, I could keep a four month old for the rest of my life. I could pack him everywhere and love it. He's only in need of one item from the food pyramid. He smiles all day. He sleeps most of the night. He doesn't grab at everything. And he's just plain content with life.

We had some friends from Milwaukee order a Flying Magazine for Lucas as he's real intent on being a pilot one day. The boys thought the subscription flyer in the magazine was for the purpose of recruiting Lucas as a real pilot to the American Pilot's Association. So they sealed it up tight and got it all ready to send out. I'm thinking about opening it up and finding a real address and sending it. . . . somewhere.
